Firstly well done to all of the boys who were available to play from the Wolves and I think everyone played lots of rugby yesterday.
As Ipswich only had one team, we did a round robin set of matches and ensured that everyone played so we had a Bears, Wolves and then a combined Bears and Wolves Baa baa’s team.
I did not see much of the Baa baa’s team play against Ipswich but I heard that everyone really got involved and then drawing the match 15:15 was a great result.
In the Wolves match against Ipswich this was a strong performance with good tackling, rucking and support play from all.
Tackle of the Day goes to Archie Murrell for some excellent tackling throughout the game
U11 Wolves Match report vs Ipswich RFC
The Wolves started strongly with some good tackling from the kick off. The forward combinations of Bernard and Cameron, secured the ball, Freddie moving the ball quickly to Archie saw the Ipswich players ball watching and being sucked into the centre of the pitch. Another quick distribution through the backs to Adam allowed him to take the ball at pace and crash through a number of defenders before being tackled. Fred was quick to support and secured the ball then another quick ball through the backs saw Will Cameron exploit the space down the wing for the first try. The forwards were dominating the field position and wave after wave of crash ball from Cameron, Bernard, Fred, Adam and Archie was taking its toll on the Ipswich defence. With space opening up Seb scored 2 more tries to make it 15:0 at half time.
In the second half we asked for more distribution of the ball and we wanted to see the ball being ran at pace and passed. From the re-start Ipswich kicked the ball straight at Will Spark who took the ball well and accelerated towards the on rushing defenders, with a couple of nice side steps he raced to the line for the 1st score of the second half. Ipswich then chose to take the kick to restart and had not learnt the lesson from a few minutes earlier. Ipswich kicked it again straight back at Will S who gratefully received the present and ran in for a comfortable second score. With some changes to scrum half Finn Osgood, moved the ball well through the backs and they repeated got over the gain line. The forwards were just too strong for Ipswich and they did not lose many rucks. As the Wolves were camped on the Ipswich try line again, the ball popped out of the ruck and an Ipswich player scooped it up and cleared his own line. Unfortunately for them it was well taken by Will Cameron at full back and he accelerated nicely showing his speed and beating a couple of defenders to score the 3rd try of half. Seb scored a further try to make this a comfortable win for the Wolves.
Score Wolves 35:0 Ipswich
Scorers William Cameron 2, Will Spark 2 & Seb Brindley 3
