An update on the usage of our pitches and a call to arms for some volunteers.

From Andy Herlihy

Since the last round of matches at the club, a lot of remedial work has taken place on Pitches 1, 2, and 3. The pitches have been fertilised, harrowed, tined, seeded, top-dressed, and levelled. Much of this work has been completed voluntarily, some with the help of generous donations, and some at "mates rates". The grounds are currently experiencing rapid growth due to the excellent growing conditions, and there is a lot of maintenance work required on a daily basis. If you can spare some time during Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday to help out, it would be of enormous assistance and greatly appreciated.

Our club is hosting the Eastern Counties Women and Men in their forthcoming home county championship matches. The club needs help to ensure the site looks its best for these fixtures and for the last leg of the Super Sevens Series in June.

Unfortunately, some of the topsoil used for the top dressing was contaminated with stones and flints, which are now scattered on the pitches. Prior to the fun day on Saturday, could I ask for volunteers to come along at 10 am to help with a stone-picking party? There are also a couple of other projects that volunteers could assist with. Refreshments will be available.
