The first 3 new signings of the 2024/2025 Men's 1st XV squad have been announced this week by Jacob Ford.
Jack Johnson, Gabe Jones and Euan Rees all join the Wolfpack for the season ahead.
Jack Johnson
Jack joins the club alongside his playing commitments with the British Army. Jack recently started fly half in the Army v Navy game at Twickenham this year. Jack has previously played for Bury St Edmunds and we welcome him back to the club.
“He’s developed a lot over the last couple of years. He’s bringing that different level of experience coming in, as well as knowing the club and a few of the boys already which helps.
“That was an easy one for us, we wanted him back and we’re grateful that he has come back.” Jacob Ford to Suffolk News.
Gabe Jones
Gabe joins us from Brunel University where he was involved in the Ealing Trailfinders programme. Gabe played 1XV at the University and can play multiple positions including his main positions as fly-half and fullback. He has also been involved in the England and GB 7s training squads as well as representing Scotland U20s.
“He’s got a lot of different experience and he can play in multiple different positions which is great for us, in terms of having that versatility and options,” said Ford, who coached Bury to a sixth-placed finish last term.
“He’s still hungry and eager to compete and develop. That helps the training environment and for the squad ethos that we want to create.
“He’s started really well and we’re glad to have him in board.” ~ Jacob Ford to Suffolk News.
Both Jack & Gabe are available to sponsor through our Player Sponsor packages. These will be announced on Tuesday 16th of July but to learn more and to pledge your support now, contact Will Affleck.
Euan Rees
Euan joins us from Shelford Rugby Club. In which he was a stand out player for them last season in the Regional 1 South East League. Euan plays multiple positions including centre, wing and full back.
On Rees’ arrival, Ford said: “I’m pleased to bring him in because he offers something different in the back three that we’ve probably not had.
“He’s a great athlete and we could do with having that, but it’s a great opportunity for him to test himself at a higher level and be involved in a team that can hopefully give him good opportunities around the park.” ~ Jacob Ford to Suffolk News.
Euan has kindly been sponsored by Pinky's Flowers Cambridge
