Q & A // FWD Accounts Ltd - Headline Sponsor of the 2026 Fireworks

Will Affleck

We caught up with Jason Ford, MD of FWD Accounts Ltd - Headline Sponsor of the 2026 Fireworks ahead of Friday's annual spectacular.

FWD are generous, proactive and loyal supporters of our club. I am so pleased that they are the Headline Sponsors of our fireworks, as this is an event that aligns so well with their brand and their DNA. We are sincerely grateful to them.
- Will Affleck - Commercial Director

FWD Accounts Ltd are the Headline Sponsor of the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club Fireworks Event. Why was this something that you wanted to support?

The club is who we want to support, as it does so much for the local community and our sponsorship is part of us doing that. On top of that, the Fireworks event is one of the best locally.

Introduce FWD Accounts Ltd.

FWD are a Bury based forward looking firm of accountants and tax advisers that support local businesses by helping them understand their numbers, being proactive and making our clients be as tax efficient as they can be.

You have been long-term supporters of the rugby club. How does your current support look and why do you choose to sponsor the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club?

We currently sponsor the 1974 Suite and you can see our branding from the car park, our support has grown as the club continues to grow. We started out wanting to give something back to the community in which we operate and the success of the club and the support it gives to its sponsors has made us want to do more. We are also one of the shirt sponsors for the Women’s team as we wanted to help them make the most of their promotion last year.

You will be making an occasion of the event in the FWD Accounts Ltd 1974 Suite. How are you spending the evening?

We have our staff and their families joining us to enjoy the evening. It’s a good chance to socialise and unwind outside of the office.

What does being involved with Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club and the local community mean to FWD Accounts Ltd?

I played for the club when I was young, and it has transformed since those days and its become a real hub of the local community. Fellow sponsors really try to buy from other sponsors and there is a real togetherness fostered via the regular networking events for the sponsors.

Why do you think events like the fireworks display are important for bringing the local community together?

It’s a chance to spend time with friends and family. Life is very busy nowadays and technology/screens have become a big part of our lives. Fireworks night allows us to spend time in the fresh air and relax.

FWD Accounts Ltd has a strong connection with Bury St Edmunds. What is it about the town and its community that makes it such a great place to do business?

Bury St Edmunds has a great history and good access to transport and is a really pleasant place to live and do business. We find that we can relate to the town and the businesses that operate there. We are an owner managed business and we understand the pressures that our clients face as we face those same things daily too.

What does it mean to FWD Accounts Ltd to have the opportunity to host guests in the FWD Accounts Ltd 1974 Suite for such a popular local event?

The 1974 suite has great meaning to the club, and so when we had the opportunity to sponsor the suite we were thrilled. On match days we think it’s a great viewing platform, and to be able to share that view on Fireworks night with the team and their families will be brilliant.

How does supporting local sport and community events fit into FWD Accounts Ltd’s wider approach to supporting the local area?

Growing up and playing sport and being part of a team was a big part of my development. So, at FWD we have looked to support local clubs with sponsorship where we can. We see it as a small way we can give back to the community in which we work, and that ultimately supports our business and employees.

Finally, what would you say to anyone who is considering coming along to the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club Fireworks Event this year?

If you have not been before you will love it. The display is wonderful and there is plenty of food and drink to help everyone enjoy the evening. We hope you all have a good time and hopefully we will see you there.
