We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Head Coach to lead our Women’s 1st XV competing in the RFU Women’s Championship 1.

Bury St Edmunds RFC is seeking an ambitious and experienced Head Coach to lead our Women’s 1st XV competing in the RFU Women’s Championship, the second tier of women’s rugby in England.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive and well-supported club with a strong community ethos and a growing women’s programme. We are looking for a coach who can drive performance, support player development, and help shape the continued growth of women’s rugby at the club.

The Role
The Head Coach will be responsible for leading the women’s performance programme and creating a positive, high-performance environment. Working alongside a committed group of players, volunteers, and club leaders, the successful candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality training sessions
  • Lead the team on match days and manage game strategy
  • Develop individual players and support pathway opportunities
  • Foster a strong, inclusive and high-performance culture
  • Work collaboratively with assistant coaches, medical staff and club leadership
  • Contribute to the continued growth and sustainability of the women’s programme

Key Requirements

  • Previous coaching experience within women’s or senior rugby
  • Strong understanding of the modern game and player development
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to plan structured training programmes
  • RFU coaching qualification (Level 2 or equivalent preferred)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and player welfare

Role Type: Part-time / voluntary (expenses may be available depending on experience) Salary - can be discussed but very competitive
