Round 27 | 2024/2025

Alex Rowles14 Mar 2025 - 13:05

Here’s your preview of the weekend’s action, from Club Media Officer, Charlie Woodbridge.

Following a mixed weekend of results for Bury St Edmunds rugby, we have an exciting week of fixtures this weekend.

We have only one senior fixture at The Haberden this weekend. However, we have our Centenary double-header fixture against Canterbury. In which, our Men’s 1st team and Colts will both playing Canterbury, one after the other.

Our boys’ U13s, U14s and U15s all have exciting fixtures this weekend. The boys’ age grade sides will be playing against Sudbury and Woodbridge, respectively. Similarly, it is a busy weekend for our girls’ age grades with the Vixens travelling to Datchworth and the U12s competing in the Hertford Floodlit Festival. However, both these girls’ fixtures will be taking place on Saturday due to the Vixens heading to the PWR final on Sunday.

It's a huge weekend for the Colts as they are the first fixture in the Centenary double-header at The Haberden. Get down to The Haberden before 12pm to support the Colts.

The Men’s 1st XV look to continue their winning streak as they make up the second match in the Centenary fixture at The Haberden. In addition to the Centenary celebrations, club stalwart front-row Paddy Robinson will run out for his 100th appearance for the 1st team.

Director of Rugby, Jacob Ford, has named a strong side for the fixture. Callum Hall continues to start at fly-half with Ben Penfold still sidelined. The side remains largely unchanged, but with Ben Cooper coming in at prop and Alex Earnshaw coming in at full-back.

The Men’s 2nd XV, 3rd XV and 4th XV all can enjoy a rest weekend.

Similarly, our Women’s 1st XV can enjoy a rest weekend. However, stay tuned to the club social media channels this weekend to see our women’s 1st XV away day video.

In the Minis section, you can expect plenty of rugby, with The Haberden hosting Ely for all the minis to enjoy.

Once again, we have a full weekend of rugby. As usual, you can find all the squads on the club’s social media channels.
