Round 30 – 2024/2025

Alex Rowles11 Apr - 10:06

Here’s your preview of the weekend’s action, from Club Media Officer, Charlie Woodbridge.

Following a frustrating weekend of results for Bury St Edmunds rugby, we have a quiet week of fixtures as all the respective seasons start to come to an end.

We have two senior fixtures across the club this weekend. However, we only have one featuring at The Haberden.

Our boys’ U13s (x2), U15s and U16s all have exciting fixtures this weekend. The boys’ age grade sides will be playing Ely Tigers A, Haverhill, Holt and North Walsham, respectively. There is only one fixture in our girls’ age grades due to cancellations, but the U14s have an important Norfolk Cup Semi-Final away against Norwich Crusaders.

The Colts will be playing in yet another double-header with the Men’s 1st XV as both sides travel Old Albanians.

The Men’s 1st XV look to avenge last week’s loss against a strong Barnes side, as they look to make it a league double over Old Albanians. This fixture marks the last away game of the season, and the penultimate fixture of the season.

Director of Rugby, Jacob Ford, has named a strong side to face Old Albanians. The returning Joe Collier has made his way into the starting fifteen, as he starts at scrumhalf for the first time this season. However, it’s a big weekend for Bury St Edmunds Colts Captain, Callum Peck, who makes it into the squad on the bench as a front-row replacement. Peck will be looking to get his first run out for the 1st XV, on behalf of Bury Rugby we congratulate him.

The Women’s 1st XV have sadly received a home walkover for their penultimate fixture of the season against Boston Ladies. However, get down to The Haberden next Saturday, YES SATURDAY… as they face Cannock Lionesses in the End of Season (Promotion/Champions?) Party.

The Men’s 2nd XV finished their season last weekend, and they successfully avoided relegation after a tough season.

The Men’s 3rd XV doesn’t have a game this weekend. However, the Men’s 4th XV makes up the only home fixture of the weekend as they prepare to face Clacton Kestrels.

The Minis section has a huge weekend, as they will be travelling to Sudbury for a rugby festival. However, the U12s will be travelling to Norwich for a rugby festival. We wish all of them good luck!
