Following a weekend of brilliant games and some great results, with the outstanding Women’s and girl’s double-header on Sunday, the Bury Rugby family can look forward to a busy weekend in round 8 of the 2024 / 2025 season.
We have a great selection of rugby ahead, with all senior sides in action and only one senior playing at home with a quiet weekend at The Haberden. However, the Women’s 1st XV has their exciting Papa-Johns Cup fixture away at Shelford.
Our boys’ U13s, U14s and U16s all have exciting fixtures this weekend against Haverhill, Ipswich and Felixstowe respectively. It is quite a quiet weekend among our age-grade sides with the majority not playing due to cancellations and rest weeks. However, our Vixens had a stormer last weekend in a packed Haberden which has now seen them secure their own sponsor for the remainder of the season, Modular Screens Ltd.

The Men’s 1st XV look to continue their three-game unbeaten streak this weekend, as they travel to the weird and wonderful place of Guernsey to play Guernsey Raiders. This fixture is going to be a tough game as Guernsey sit 2nd in National League 2 East. Keep an eye out for some fantastic media content from Guernsey.

Jacob Ford has made several changes across the side with a big change-up in the pack as, Paddy Robinson, Fin McCartney, Ben Cooper. And Trystan Andrews all coming into the side. The backline remains largely unchanged but with new signing Jack Johnson starting at full-back.
The Women’s 1st XV have a very exciting round 2 Papa John’s Cup game away against Shelford Ladies, who they have previously beaten in the first game at The Haberden earlier in the season.
Head Coach, Liam Leeson has named a strong women’s side with it largely remaining the same, with only a few changes as Heather Barrie comes into the front-row and Katie Rannochan, Hannah Barwell and Lottie Selfe completing the changes in the backs.
The Men’s 2nd XV makes up the only home side this weekend at The Haberden, as they still chase the first win of the season. They host local rivals Ipswich in yet another derby day at The Haberden. AJ Morgan has made three changes with Chris Kent, Connor Morris and Billy Reid all coming into the side.
The Men’s 3rd XV and 4th XV also have exciting away fixtures, taking on Cambridge III’s and Braintree III’s, respectively.
We have a big weekend in our Minis section as it is week 2 of the rugby festival at Wymondham, with the U8s, 9s, 10s, 11s and 12s all competing. We wish all those minis involved good luck!
Another full weekend of rugby and exciting fixtures awaits! As usual, you can find full squads on the club’s social media channels.
