Weekend Preview – Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club

Round 8 is here – and there's still plenty of rugby to enjoy at the Haberden!

While our Men's 1st XV enjoy a well-earned rest weekend following their opening block of National League 1 fixtures, there's no shortage of action across the club.

Saturday brings a double-header of senior rugby at the Greene King IPA Haberden, with our Women's 1st XV and Wolfhounds both looking to make home advantage count. Meanwhile, the Wolves head to the Essex coast, and our Youth & Minis have another busy Sunday ahead.

This weekend's action:

Women's 1st XV – welcome West Park Leeds to the Greene King IPA Haberden on Saturday, 2.30 pm.

The Bury Women are still searching for their first victory of the 2026/27 campaign, and Saturday presents another opportunity to turn their hard work into a positive result.

With home support behind them, Stef Liebenburg's side will be determined to put in a strong performance and get their season up and running.

A loud, supportive Haberden crowd could make all the difference, so get down and get behind the Bury Women!

Match-Day Programme

Men's 2nd XV (Wolfhounds) – also return to home action on Saturday, 2.30 pm, as they welcome Thurrock to the Haberden.

It's shaping up to be a closely contested encounter in Regional 2 Anglia, with the Essex visitors sitting just one place and one league point above the Wolfhounds.

With so little separating the sides in the standings, AJ's men will be looking to make home advantage count and secure valuable league points.

Two home fixtures. Two teams looking to climb the table. Plenty to play for!

Men's 3rd XV (Wolves) – make the trip to the Essex coast on Saturday to face Harwich & Dovercourt.

The hosts head into the weekend looking to bounce back from defeat, while the Wolves will be eager to turn a series of frustratingly narrow losses into a much-deserved victory.

With recent performances showing how competitive the side can be, the challenge now is to find that extra edge and get over the line.

It's another busy Sunday for our younger age groups, with fixtures taking place both home and away.
