Congratulations to Senior Performance Squad member and our Colts Head Coach, Samir Kharbouch, who has been selected to represent the Algerian National 7s team in their journey for Olympic qualification.
This summer, Samir hopes to represent his country in Mauritius as they compete for a place in the Olympic qualifying tournament.
This is a fantastic achievement and we as a club are very proud of him.
Although Samir is relishing the opportunity at further international caps for his beloved Algeria, unfortunately, this comes at a cost. He will not be paid to participate and as such, will be taking unpaid leave from his job at a local school. Last year, thanks to your generous donations, Samir was able to travel to Marseille where Algeria came 3rd in the Africa Cup - losing narrowly to Kenya in the last four.
Algeria is an emerging nation and thanks to you, Samir has been able to be a part of the journey so far. Now, we want to help him continue that journey.
We would really like to support one of our own once more and help to cover his travel, expenses and living costs during this time.
Samir would be extremely grateful for any donations and help however big or small and we know the Haberden faithful and extended #rugbyfamily will recognise this as always.
Any excess funds will go towards the Bury St Edmunds Boys U18s team to whom Samir gives so much.
Thank you in advance for your support.
