U11 Wolves Match Report - Braintree 1st November
Braintree brought a mixed ability squad and fielded 2 teams, although they had some inexperienced players they had some quick runners and some very solid boys.
Tackle of the day goes to Freddie Bayne for his tackle on the Braintree “sub” in the second game. Well done Freddie.
Braintree B.
The Wolves went into the second game with some confidence. A quick recap of the areas to work on saw the Wolves take the game to Braintree - the tackling was lower, the ball was moved left to right, the rucking in pairs secured enough momentum and some good tactical kicking kept the ball in the Braintree half. With a solid forward platform the scrum halfs' of Isaac and Connor moved the ball well to the backs. Strong direct runs from Fin Osgood and Freddie Bayne resulted in multiple overlaps for Seb, Will Cameron and Will Spark to exploit. The forwards were not to be outdone as Archie crashed through a number of players to round off a strong first half performance with the Wolves leading 6:0 at the break. In the second half the Wolves were growing even more in confidence and Braintree were taking a battering. The boys seemed to be scoring with every passage of play, turning the ball over in contact, holding up the mauls and winning every ruck. The flood gates opened and the Wolves scored a further 6 tries from Adam, Seb, Will Cameron and Thomas. With an injury to a Braintree player, Seb swapped sides and helped secure a couple of tries for Braintree in the final 5 minutes before an excellent wingers try from Will Spark running the whole length of the pitch rounded off a solid Wolves performance. This was a good team performance with scores from every position from backs, half backs and forwards - well done.
Final score Wolves 65 : Braintree B 10
Scorers: Thomas Pope 1, Archie Murrell 1, Adam Harwood-Hughes 2, Will Spark 2, Seb Brindley 3 & Will Cameron 4
Well done again, have a great week and see you on Sunday
With kind regards
