I hope you have now managed to get most of the mud out - and I hope you liked the picture that I sent out on Sunday. There are some more photos on the main Bury website.

Well done to all of the boys who were able to play on Sunday from the Wolves.

Thank you also to Albert, Joshua and Harry for joining the Wolves and playing your part in some excellent games against a strong competitive set of boys from Shelford.

We faced 3 balanced Shelford teams and they were very physical both in attack and defence. That being said the Wolves gave as good as they got.

The key thing that pleased us on Sunday was not the physicality or the support play but how well you all played as a team.

We saw a fantastic team spirit and you should all be proud of this. Well done.

Tackle of the Day goes to Archie Murrell for his tackling in all of the games (but especially in the last one) and Player of the Day goes to Freddie Bayne for really getting stuck into lots of the rucks, mauls and always seeming to be in the thick of the action. Well done to you both and more of the same next week please.

U11 Wolves Match report vs Shelford

Shelford 1. The first game was a physically tough match with tackles raining in from both side. There was some great support play from Charlie, Joshua and Finn. The rucking from Archie, Freddie and Adam was excellent and secured a number of turnover balls. Will opened up the scoring after a quick pass from Connor to Seb and with good distribution to Will allowed him to put on the afterburners and jink his was through the defence. Seb scored just before the break to give the Wolves a comfortable cushion (HT 0:10). in the second half Albert joined the backs, putting in some great tackles with Finn and Will. Shelford we under constant pressure and started to try and clear their lines with multiple long kicks. Will comfortably gathered these at Full Back and returned them at pace, constantly making ground. The final score of the game was one such clearing kick and with a fragmented defence Will used his pace to score in the corner.

Result Shelford 0 : Wolves 15

Shelford 2. This was probably the toughest match physically. There was some great tackling from Archie, Seb, Freddie and Will. Connor was feeding the ball well from scrum half and this was releasing the backs of Charlie, Albert and Finn to gain ground. The first half was an even affair with Adam doing one of his barn storming runs to open the scoring before Shelford sneaked a try just before the break. (HT 5:5). The second half continued in the same vein, and with some of the Wolves players starting to really get the blood flowing, some of the tackles were bone crunching. Seb sealed a fine and well contested match after crashing and bouncing a number of Shelford players out of the way for the second score.

Result Shelford 5 : Wolves 10

Shelford 3 With the Wolves staying on the same pitch and probably carrying a few extra pounds of mud each, they played their last game of the morning against Shelford 3. This was another very tight game and with some injuries, Harry Swinburn kindly joined the Wolves and put in some great tackles. Every player gave 110% with the forwards of Archie, Adam, Freddie and Joshua really taking the attack to Shelford. They also suppress some of the quick Shelford runners, closing the space down really well. In attack the backs of Harry, Charlie, Finn and Albert were given quick ball from the contact area by Connor, allowing them to repeatedly punch holes in the Shelford defence. Unfortunately this could not be converted into a try. Shelford sneaked through at the end of the first half to score the only try of the game. Considering the Wolves had played three tough, physical games on probably the muddiest pitch this was a fantastic team effort and I am sure that next time we play this Shelford side the Wolves will come out on top.

Result Shelford 5 : Wolves 0
