Bury St Edmunds rugby team travelled to Northampton Saints to take part in the U11 Land Rover cup on Saturday, ready to face 15 of the strongest teams in East Anglia.
In the Pool stages Bury played some exciting rugby beating Towcester (6:0), Bugbrooke (6:0) and Silhillians (2:1) leaving the final game as a winner takes all for the route to the semi’s.
This was a close and very evenly matched game against Nottingham Corsairs (last year’s Leicester Tigers champions) . The final score was reflective of the closeness (1:1) but was all that was needed for Bury to head into the semi finals.
The semi was a tough and gruelling match against Southwold with both teams giving it their all. The final score was 0:0 meaning it went to tries scored in the Pool stages.
Bury had done it by a single try and this set up a final against Northampton Old Scouts.
This was a fabulous game with end to end running from both teams, the defence was superb from all of the boys and they should be proud of a great game.
Unfortunately, Old Scouts managed to cross the line for a single try and although Bury crossed a number of times it just was not to be our day. Final score 0:1
However, they should be pleased that they scored more tries than any other team in the competition with 15.
Squad: Seb Brindley, William Cameron, Adam Harwood-Hughes, Archie Murrell, Bernard Cripps, Louie Sinclair, Charlie Temple, Freddie Bayne, Connor Archer, Will Spark, Sol Moody & Fin Osgood
