Two well matched teams enjoyed a highly competitive game at Harlow's new clubhouse and ground. Despite sustained pressure from Bury in the first 10 minutes it was Harlow who scored first, their number 8 powering through a number of tackles to score and convert his try.
Bury hit back quickly through some determined running from Scott who powered over. The try was not converted. Harlow again capitalised on weak Bury tackling scoring another try, followed by their full back hacking the ball through and winning the race to touch down. Bury went in to half time 17-5 down, and needed a strong start to the second half.
They didn't get it, with the Harlow number 8 again finding his way through the Bury back line, although the conversion was missed. Now 22-5 down with 15 minutes to go Bury decided to start playing. The backs started firing, and after some good work Connor powered through to score, Stuey converting. More Bury pressure again told as the ball was worked out wide where Archie M screamed through to score, although Stuey could not land the conversion into the wind.
With time running out Bury again worked the ball out wide and created an overlap for Connor to score brilliantly under the posts to take it to 22-22. Stuey put the conversion over with the last kick of the game to take it to 22-24. A great comeback from the Bury boys who had looked down and out!
Well done Bury Under 14's, great spirit!
