Playing with the wind in the first half bury initially struggled to make that advantage count. The hosts played a very effective pick and go game through their forwards. Gradually bury imposed themselves and started to use the wind advantage kicking deep in to SW territory. From a SW defensive kick caught by the wind Bury pounced with Rhys Jones first to the ball to touch down and open the scoring. The hosts then struck back shortly before half time, despite a great effort by Lucas who thought he had held the SW centre up. At half time the score was 5-5.
The second half saw Bury up their game. Playing in to the wind the forwards concentrated on a pick and go game that quickly made inroads in to the SW defence. After Bury pressure SW were awarded a scrum 5 metres from the SW line. A massive scrum by Bury saw the SW scrum splinter, Scott picked up from the base of the scrum and powered over. Bury kept up the good work dominating up front, with two further scores coming from Josh Bullingham who twice powered through the SW defence to take the final score to SW 5- Bury 20.
The conditions made it difficult for the backline, but there were some good moves involving Connor and Charlie Temple, and Charlie Upright was ever vigilant at the back and made some surging runs from deep. It was a much better second half performance and it was a well deserved win in the end.
