Bury vs Saffron Walden
Late kick off at 1020 Bury kicked off to get the competiton under way. 4 minutes in Toby stole the ball from Saffron Walden in their half and completed a try in the RH corner following a cross pitch run.
7 minutes in after some pressure from Saffron Walden Bury caught defending on their try line kicked out cross pitch,. Ball was taken well by Saffron Walden and resulted in a score on the opposite corner.
9 minutes in Toby took the ball from the back of a maul scoring again to leave Bury 2-1 up at half time
Second half got under way after a team talk with an immediate return try from Toby taking the ball by hand through the entire Saffron Walden defence.
A consolation second try was scored by Saffron Walden after another win against the head at the scrum leaving the final score 3-2 to Bury
Bury vs Diss
1107 - Diss kick off. A terrific set of phases see Bury getting good width and make excellent progress upfield towards the Diss try line. A knock results in a Diss scrum 2 mins into the game which Bury won and Toby took a direct route to the try line for try number 4 for the day.
Second half half saw strong pressure from Bury resulting in the 5m scrum. Bury won the scrum and Toby took the ball from the scrum directly to the line for his 5th try of the day
Bury kick off saw a return to form from Diss with a strong move upfield which resulted in a fine run down the right to score one back
The remainder of the half was a rout by Bury with two further tries from Toby – the first from a stolen ball in the maul and the second from a loose ball coming out of a ruck which he scored down the right hand side. Final Score 4-1 to Bury
Bury vs Woodbridge
After a 2 game rest a 1230 kick off got the next game off to a start. Woodbridge got the bit between their teeth from the start and after one minute they scored down the Left hand side. It was clear Woodbridge were a strong side and Bury were struggling at the Ruck and Scrum to drive over the ball to win possession and did well to hold them to one down at half time.
Second half pressure from Woodbridge finally overcame the determined defences of Bury and just before the final whistle Woodbridge ran in another try down the Right to win the game 2-0.
Bury vs Shelford
Kick off at 1315 for the final Group game against Shelford. Shelford had a strong set of forwards and after a win against the head Shelford scored from the scrum in the right hand corner after 2 minutes.
Continued pressure from the Shelford forwards continued to see them win ball from the ruck and maul resulting in a second try after 4 minutes of play.
Before half time Shelford demonstrated the rolling maul to great effect down the center of the pitch giving a great position for their 3rd try of the game.
After half time it was more of the same but this time form the backs with a wonderful dummy sending their fly half through for the 4th try of the game.
A final spirited individual run from Toby after a penalty in the middle of the pitch saw Bury pull one back as Toby put his 8th try of the day down in the left corner.
