BURY ST EDMUNDS SAINTS 46 WELWYN 0
Bury Saints dominated this match and the forwards provided good ball from set pieces and were strong in the rucks and mauls. Peter Davies opened the scoring with two breakthrough tries both converted by Harry Haydon. Alec Kemp-Smith took a pass from Haydon to crash over for the third score. Haydon was next on the score sheet with a cross field run followed by Eddie Davis and Thomas Smith who scored a second try before Haydon broke free to score from a timely pass from Joseph Rainford.
BURY ST EDMUNDS SAINTS 14 BISHOPS STORTFORD 0
A much tighter opposition in this match required Saints to improve their defences and make the hard tackles. Again Saints forwards imposed their strength and provided good ball to the backs who made waves of attacks on the Stortford line. Eventually Oliver Brindley outpaced the defence to score in the corner. Harry Haydon again found a gap in mid field to score and he converted both tries.
BURY ST EDMUNDS SAINTS 7 BISHOPS STORTFORD 0
Bury Saints finally played the Stortford A side and had to step up their game to keep a big set of forwards and some speedy backs at bay. Both teams played excellent rugby and threatened to break through on many occasions. Bury’s defence never faltered. In the closing minutes a chip forward from Peter Davies was well taken by the Stortford full back, but a great chasing tackle from Oliver Brindley put him under pressure, spilling the ball in contact. Supporting play from Harry Haydon, picked up the loose ball to cross for the only try of the game, which he then converted.
